Cookies and local storage

What is stored

The `morse-learning-v1` local-storage record holds the learning level, practice settings, per-character answer counts, review intervals and dates, completed sessions and recent accuracy. It is not sent automatically with web requests as a cookie would be.

Translator input, translation output and shared or downloaded content are never added to this record. Browser language detection does not create another stored preference.

Google cookies and similar storage

Google Analytics can set analytics cookies such as `_ga` and property-specific `_ga_*` identifiers to distinguish browsers and sessions and measure visits and engagement. These identifiers do not contain translator input or output.

Google AdSense and participating ad technology providers may use advertising cookies, local storage and device or browser identifiers to deliver and measure ads, prevent invalid activity, control frequency and, when permitted by the visitor’s choices, personalize advertising.

For its published European regulations message, Google Privacy & Messaging can store consent-choice information, including a cookie such as `FCCDCF` and standards-based consent signals, and pass those choices to Google and participating providers. Exact storage names and durations can change with Google’s service and the applicable message.

Your controls

Use “Erase local progress” in Learn to remove the learning record immediately. Browser site-data controls can also remove it. Blocking local storage affects continuation between visits, not translation or the current in-memory practice session. There is no account or server copy to synchronize.

When the Google Privacy & Messaging message applies, use its consent, do not consent and manage-options controls. After making a choice, use Google’s “Privacy and cookie settings” control when available to reopen the message and change or withdraw it. Browser settings can also clear site data, including stored Google identifiers and choices, although doing so may make the message appear again.

Appearance

Appearance follows your device until you choose light or dark in the header. Only that preference is saved in `morse-theme` on this device for future visits. Clearing site data in your browser removes it. No message is stored.
